As a freelancer, your number one enemy that you have to deal with is procrastination. One of the reasons why your one-hour job will take you three to four hours to finish it. Worst is when you find it impossible in getting your job done because of procrastination. It might be too late for you to realize when your boss will fire you for being so unproductive. Chances are, you might be losing a very good client. Then you start blaming yourself for being so useless which might lead you to depression. So I’m sharing you these tips that I collected which also work best for me in dealing with procrastination. I've used these tips while I was trying to finish all my portfolios with a lot of distractions.

TIPS in dealing with PROCRASTINATION as a FREELANCER

1. Believe in yourself

Always start your day with positivity. It will definitely make your day with no worries at all because you believe that you are capable of bringing everything under your control whatever situations would be.

2. Set your goals

Always remember why you are doing this. I’m pretty sure you have goals to achieve such as you want to buy a new house, you want to help your parents, you want to buy a car. Then, you plan the actions that you need to do in achieving them. Remember, goals without action will remain a dream.

3. List all your tasks for the day

List all the things that you need to accomplish for the day. Schedule them and set your own deadline for every task. For example, you need to create a logo design in just an hour. Just make sure it is realistic.

4. Know your priorities

Always start working on the hardest task. That’s what I’ve learned from Coach Grace of FVA during freelancing class. It will save much of your time.

5. Avoid distractions

Get rid in the things that will stop you doing your job. Don’t keep your phone beside you if is not needed in your job. This is a great way to stop yourself from checking your social media app like facebook, twitter, linkedin and Instagram. Set a time for social media sites. Only open the tab that you need on your laptop while doing your work.

6. Take time to rest

Always remember, health is wealth. Take a break when you need to. We are still humans.

7. Reward yourself

After a busy day of accomplishing your tasks, you might be feeling tired and exhausted. Why not reward yourself a little? Rewarding yourself doesn’t have to be costly. You can always get pleasure from simple things like getting your nails done. Bonding with special people.

Procrastination will always be there especially when you just started your career as a freelancer. This will test your determination, patience and perseverance. So if you find yourself struggling with this enemy, do not procrastinate in trying out these tips and see how much work you will accomplish.
